Twenty-five years ago today, my parents got hitched.

My Dad’s been working out bush for a year now – and won’t be back until December. If he comes back to town. I’m starting to wonder if he regrets ever having a family. I miss him. SO much.
Happy Anniversary, Mum and Dad.
*sigh*
PS. I felt sad… and may have bought another pair of shoes. Don’t tell Nick.

My heart melted. And that ache from losing my Lexington was suddenly less sharp.

Introducing Molly:

18/04/03 – 23/06/08

Lexington Pondaroza Anabelle was taken from me last night, after her second encounter with a cane toad in less than six months.

To say that I am devastated doesn’t even begin to cover it. I have a huge void in my heart, and I am really hurting. My eyes are red and swollen, and I don’t feel like I will ever stop crying. I feel broken.

My girl gave me so much love over the past 5 years, and for that I am forever grateful. She got me through some really rotten times, and she really was my best friend.

My dear Lexi/Catdog/Rat-like/Rattus/Stinky/Baby, I love you, and I miss you. You will forever hold a piece of my heart.

Just received some particularly exciting news – my beautiful friend K is being induced tonight. There will be a real baby sometime over the next day or so!

I wish for her a safe, and healthy delivery of the babe *nods*

And can’t wait to meet Baby when I’m in Sydney next month!

It’s been a bit of a struggle to get in here and write an update. When I’m not working, I’m sleeping.

Or heading into hospital for a colonscopy and biopsy – which is where I’m headed in about half an hour *lesigh* It’s been a while coming, and I’ll be glad to finally have it behind me. The pre-surgery blood test last week wasn’t exactly pleasant – but it was more me working myself up than anything. It’ll be interesting to find out the results *shrug*

We had a bit of a scare with my beautiful puppers last week. She got to a cane toad. It was HORRIBLE. She was staggering, and then having seizures and throwing her head around, and then she’d go all stiff. We had to rush her out the vet at 11pm, that was a good 20 minutes away (scary, given that the vet had told us that the first 20 minutes were most critical), and she got a good dose of valium, and then an IV into her. It broke my heart to have to leave her there overnight. Especially since we were told that there was a possibility she wouldn’t make it.

I didn’t sleep a wink that night. We didn’t get home from the vet until 1am, and I bawled my eyes out long into the early hours of the morning. I don’t think Nick got much sleep either! Nor my Mum.

But she survived. My girl sure is a little fighter.

We’ve been on toad watch every night since, and we’re finding them on an almost nightly basis. Poor Lexi has to be on a lead when she goes out to the toilet before bed. She’s not so crazy about it, but I don’t want to have to go through that again. She turns 5 next month – and I intend to have her around for many more years after that!

With that, I’m off. Time to head down to the private hospital. I haven’t been allowed to eat the past two days. Ohh, the pain!

My brother’s pole. He sure did some damage – there are no tricks to these photographs.

A post on Robyn's Blog reminded me that I hadn't yet posted about one of my new favourite websites - Etsy! I've been a little distracted as of late..

But how is it that I only just (two weeks ago) found this website?! It’s brilliant! It is THE place to buy and sell all things handmade – I already have my eye on quite a few pieces. Plus, they have an entire “weddings” section, in which I have plans to buy up a storm a little closer to the date!

And how is my brother doing? He has a minimum of a month’s stay in the hospital, and we had a bit of a scare with blood clots this week, but he seems to be doing fine otherwise. He has plenty of friends visiting him regularly – which seems to be helping his spirits, and he has a stack of DVD’s and magazines to get through.

I won’t let my guard down just yet, but he’s doing well. He’s bloody lucky to be alive. It’s clearly not his time to go yet *shakes head*

A big thank you to all for being so supportive. It’s been a rather horrifying week for me – but everyone (family, friends, work mates, my bosses, fellow bloggers, i-do members) has really rallied behind me and given me a lot of support. I can’t thank you all enough – it means the world.

3:14am Monday.

I can’t sleep.

My brother was in a car accident yesterday morning. He’d just dropped somebody home, and he aquaplaned. It’s been raining a lot the past couple of days. Hit a pole. The car’s a write-off.

I went upstairs in the morning.. I don’t even remember why.. But I remember Dad telling me that my “brother’s in the hospital”. My heart stopped. I went down there straight away, and Mum told me not to panic – that he was “okay” – but I wish she’d warned me that there were cords everywhere, that he was on oxygen, and that he was wearing a neck brace. It scared the sh’t out of me.

And how is he? Cracked pelvis, hairline fracture in one of the vertebrae in his neck (so he’s still in the brace), and a bruised lung – which they have to monitor to make sure blood clots don’t form. He’s going to be in hospital at least a week. Pretty sure it will be one of the longest weeks of my life.

I know he’s all grown and he’s almost 19 now, but he’s my little brother. And I love him to pieces.

After finally drifting off at some ungodly hour Saturday night/Sunday morning (as sleep and I aren’t getting along of late), the alarm went off at 5am for our road trip out to Newcastle!

It wouldn’t run with the theme if the navigator didn’t have us driving around in circles, and true to form, we drove around Chatswood for a good half an hour before deciding to defy the instructions to turn left, and continued straight instead! It wasn’t long before we were well and truly on our way!

I wish I’d thought to have my camera out, because there were some truly amazing photo opportunities along the way! I will definitely have to remember for next time! The drive out was pleasant, and after a stop in at the McCafe for coffee, we were all feeling more awake!

First stop was at my Aunt’s house to catch up with her and the family! … I can’t believe how much Tully and Zac have grown in just six short months! They’re really shooting up now, and the things that they come out with! Zac is really speaking now, and Tully’s vocab blew me away! What kind of four year old comes out with words like “enchantress”?! *giggle* It was so good to see them all again, and Belinda even made blueberry muffins! I haven’t had a muffin in forever – it was so good!

Unfortunately it was a bit of a drizzly day, so we couldn’t spend the morning at the beach, but they did give us a bit of a tour of one of the beaches, and showed us the kids bathing pool. After getting stuck under an awning when the rain really started to come down, it was time to go again…. The drove in front of us for a little way, so that we knew we were on the right road, and after a few hugs it was time to say goodbye! I look forward to moving down to Sydney so that I can see them more regularly, that’s for sure.

We drove out to The Bay to catch up with Gina, Craig, Georji, and their newest addition – Griffin! It was really good to see them again, and to meet little Griff! In usual Georji style, she went shy for a little while, before fairly coming out of her shell, and showing me a lot of her artwork. I can’t believe she’s only three! She’s grown so much since I last saw her, and she’s more talkative than ever! And what does she want to be when she grows up? A Queen!

After lunch and a good catch up with everyone, they showed us around a little, before we went down to the RSL to sit and chat some more. Some RSL! It looked like something the Hyatt would own! It’s undergoing some renovations at the moment, and it’s probably one of the most upmarket RSL’s that I have ever seen. I was fairly blown away!

Before I knew it, it was getting late, and we had to leave to drive Kate back into Sydney to catch her plane back to Melbourne. Words really can’t explain how great it was to see everyone again. I miss them all so much. And every time I visit, I can’t get over how much the kids have all grown. I can’t wait to live closer!

The drive back to Sydney wasn’t as stressful as I was worried it might have been, but it was certainly busier than the drive out. My back was really starting to hurt, but after a stop in at the Caltex on the way back for some dinner, I was ready to go. We managed to get Kate to the airport on time, and returned the hire car without a hitch! A quick taxi ride back to Star City, and I was more than ready for bed…
