Australia Day in my house started with peeling myself, and Nick, out of bed at 6am on a Saturday morning, to drive down to Mindil Beach to do the 5km Fun Run with 4,000 other crazies. Not a whole lot of people by big city standards, but that many people in such a small amount of space was not so “fun” for my anxiety levels! The start gun couldn’t go off fast enough!

The run itself was pleasant – and clearly I’ve forgotten the burning sensation in both my legs and my lungs as I ran up those horrid steep hills – but the beautiful scenery along the way combined with that tingly feeling that you get all over (which you initially fear is the onset of a heart attack…) is *so* worth it.

The rest of the day is a bit of a blur… I spent two hours at the salon getting my hair cut and coloured (ohhh how I love that head massage they give you at the basin!) while perusing trashy gossip magazines (hey, no judgement!), followed by a day lazing in bed with my boy and my puppers watching way too many episodes of Dawson’s Creek! We’re up to Season 3 now… *sniff* Kevin Williamson really knows how to bring a gal to tears…

The evening was spent enjoying Aeroplane Jelly, which most people know is rather synonymous with Australian culture… Mmm!

I love this country.
